Portfolio
Portfolio
A place to reflect on what you have learned and showcase your achievements
The Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS) Portfolio is one of the graduation requirements to get a degree at University College Roosevelt. This LAS Portfolio consists of three parts:
- Personal & Professional Development Trajectory (PPD).
- Research-intensive course at the advanced level.
- A collection of works produced throughout your studies.
The portfolio is a living document that helps you plan, track, and showcase your academic and personal development over time. It is your tool to set goals, reflect on progress, and highlight accomplishments to teachers or future opportunities
Personal & Professional Development trajectory
Personal & Professional Development trajectory
The PPD trajectory starts in the first year with a course that helps you build skills like teamwork, communication and adaptability that you can use in all other courses you take. PPD will prepare you for your academic journey and future career while feeling supported along the way.
As part of the course, you will work on a civic engagement project and apply your learning through real-world challenges. The projects will provide hands-on experience with societal issues and introduce you to the clusters in the curriculum.
Research-intensive course
Research-intensive course
Research-intensive courses at the advanced level help you build strong research skills within the context of your chosen academic cluster. You’ll work in groups to refresh key techniques, explore research processes, and share ideas. In workshops, you will boost your career skills, and individually, you will dive into a research project based on topics suggested by your instructor. The final result, for example a research paper or thesis, will go into your portfolio as proof of your ability to do academic research.
Past students have, for example, combined Law and Psychology to study how reliable witness statements are after trauma-focused memory suppression treatment, or used Art History and AI to create software that scans artworks and detects signs of forgery. Your final work—whether it’s a research paper or thesis—goes into your portfolio as evidence of your ability to do real academic research.

This means collecting work that shows your academic growth, personal and professional development, and readiness for what comes next. It’s also a useful tool when applying for Master’s programs. Throughout your time at UCR, your Tutor will support you in planning your curriculum and building your portfolio step by step.
