Research

At University College Roosevelt, research is a shared and purposeful activity; grounded in academic expertise, shaped by real-world questions, and enriched by student involvement.
We welcome research collaborations that align with one or more of UCR’s six clusters, match the expertise of our faculty, and offer students meaningful opportunities to contribute.
Whether you’re part of a university, institute, government body, cultural organization, or business, working with UCR means engaging with a dynamic, interdisciplinary academic community; one that’s firmly rooted in Zeeland, and open to the world.
UCR’s (contribution to) research is organized around six clusters that reflect today’s challenges and tomorrow’s possibilities:
- Business & Entrepreneurship: Innovation, leadership, sustainability, and social enterprise in a changing economic landscape.
- Data Science & Intelligent Systems: AI, machine learning, big data, robotics, and the ethical use of intelligent technologies.
- Environment & Sustainability: Climate adaptation, biodiversity, circular systems, and sustainable living — especially in delta and coastal regions.
- Government & Society: Public policy, human rights, law, civic engagement, and the future of democratic institutions.
- Health, Cognition & Behavior: Mental and physical well-being, neuroscience, psychology, and health systems.
- Media, Culture & Communication: Language, identity, heritage, creative industries, and the role of media in society.
